How do I prepare for my laser hair removal service?

STAY AWAY FROM THE SUN!
Avoid direct sun exposure the weeks leading up to your service, including tanning beds. Lasers target your skin’s pigment therefore having an increased amount of melanin can interfere with the laser causing hypopigmentation.

SHAVE PRIOR TO YOUR SERVICE.
Laser hair removal targets the hair follicles vs the actual hair. Your skin needs to recover from shaving therefore do not shave right before your appointment please shave a minimum of 6 hours prior or a maximum of 24 hours prior to your appointment.

DO NOT PLUCK, TWEEZE, WAX OR USE ANY CHEMICAL HAIR REMOVAL CREAMS.
If you have done any of the following forms of hair removal you need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks to receive hair removal or it will not be effective.

DO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS.
Prior to your service do not apply any chemicals or creams. Products containing chemicals, especially AHA’s, BHA”s or Retinol can cause extreme sensitivity to the treated area. Shower prior to your appointment to ensure your skin is free of any lotions or creams that could prevent the laser from reaching your follicle.

CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.
Prior to your appointment it is highly recommended to consult your physician of any medications that could potentially be a contraindication for laser treatments. For example, antibiotics cause photosensitivity and make treatment more painful.
